Gumnut Dodges Ferry Centre
Gumnut Long Day Care Centre is located in the Southern Beaches area of Dodges Ferry, 30 minutes South of Hobart. It is privately owned and was established as a 24 place centre in 1994 and expanded in June 2009 to a 50 place centre. The two buildings are purpose built and linked by an arched walkway maintaining the sense of a small centre atmosphere.
The directors bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from both Tasmanian and Mainland centres and understand the importance of quality care for children and families. Educators are experienced and qualified and are committed to a vision that provides the best opportunities for each child to play, learn and develop in a warm, happy and challenging environment.
Hours of Operation: 7:30am to 6:15pm Monday to Friday, 51 weeks per year. The Centre closes at 1pm on Christmas Eve and re-opens on the first working day after January 1st.
We provide care for children from birth to five years.
Orientation is arranged to meet the individual needs of families and to introduce children to the centre in a way that allows them to feel safe, secure and happy. Included in the orientation is a tour of the centre.
Gumnut Long Day Care Centre is licenced by the Education and Care Unit.
Pre-Kinder children have the opportunity to participate in a pre-kinder programme that enhances their school readiness. Children participate in the launch into learning programme and kinder visits are arranged at the Dodges Ferry Primary school so children become familiar with the transition to school.
We offer care from 7:30AM to 6:15PM

– Snugglepot Room
– Joeys Room
– Gumnut Babies Room
Vacation Care
We provide vacation care for school age children during school holidays except for public holidays 7:30am-6pm on school grounds of Dodges Ferry Primary School.

Outside School Hours Care
MY TIME, OUR PLACE is the National Quality Framework that underpins Gumnut’s OSHC practices. This supports children’s engagement in a range of play and leisure experiences that allow each child to feel happy, safe and relaxed, to interact with friends, practice social skills, solve problems, try new experiences and learn life skills.
Outside School Hours Care is located within the grounds of the Dodges Ferry Primary School.
OSHC hours of operation:
Before School Care 7.00am – 8.30am Monday to Friday
After School Care 2.45pm – 6.00pm Monday to Friday
The service will be closed for student free days.
We offer permanent and casual care.
